Songs for Echo is a great little CD. As you'd expect from HUX, presentation is all and music journalist Colin Harper has written the sleeve notes - as he did with the Woods Band release earlier in 2001. It's about time Auto were represented on CD format and although everybody wants the reissue of the two vinyl records, this isn't a bad start and if it sells in sufficent numbers, who knows.By the way, Gay selected the tracks and the appearance of 'The Merchant' twice is testimony to the difficulty in picking which version of some of the songs to use.Another positive is that if the original records do appear, you'll still need this one for the large amount of material on it that was never recorded in the studio.
